Great Barrier Reef Arena, Mackay

Harrup Park’s Great Barrier Reef Arena is an elite world class sporting and entertainment destination which includes state of the art facilities for players and officials, TV and broadcasting infrastructure, music event facilities, community events plaza, additional 2000 seating and new northern stand.

Harrup Parks focus was to grow their capacity and be capable to host not just community-based events but also major sporting events, particularly Cricket and AFL.

Project Works

Over 1.7 hectare of garden and turf areas were installed and completely irrigated.  While all garden areas received new imported soil, we managed a cost saving exercise for our clients Paynter’s by recycling existing site topsoil through a screening and amelioration process before re-spreading.  Installed street furniture such as new drinking fountains, concrete seating, stainless steel bollards and Ronstand X-Tend tensile mech trellises to steel arbors for multiple entries to the stadium that not only give it a modern feel it creates structural boundaries, is lightweight and is transparent in it’s design.
